Everyday Balloons People tell me this sounds a lot like Sugar and later Husker Du. My only Bob Mould experience being Zen Arcade, I can't confirm this. What I do hear are echoes of bands spanning the distance between Mould and Tilted- leads Dickie Hammond (RIP) would be jealous of; better crunch than Catherine Wheel; harmonies those lobster eaters in Sloan wish they wrote. But these comparisons are insufficient, and these songs are not derivative. What matters is it's April and this is already on my year end list Favorite track: Washed.

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
